A dead-on copy of Aveda's Sapmoss fragrance, which they use in shampoo and conditioner. A very unusual and earthy blend, with top notes of natural petigrain and galbanum, leading to a floral-herbal middle of yellow rose, cyclamen, and green notes. Much of this fragrance's character comes from strong bottom notes of natural olibanum, patchouli, sandalwood, and Virginia cedarwood oil, along with rich musk and Madagascar vanilla. BOTTOM LINE: Extremely earthy and natural smelling -- very much in keeping with Aveda's mission to offer only all-natural or largely natural scents. Far from pretty or perky or sweet; if J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle Earth had an official fragrance, it would be this. Our version has been "iron-fortified" to work in all applications, including even cold-process soap. As always, since it contains vanilla it may discolor. Use it on its own, or add it to single-note florals (rose, jasmine, honeysuckle, etc.) to give them greater depth and mystery. Flashpoint: >200º F.
We've come up with special "his-and-hers" Sapmoss blends:
Day at the Spa
For our feminine blend:
1 part Sweet Cakes Sapmoss (type) Fragrance
1 part Sweet Cakes Hibiscus Fragrance
For our masculine blend:
2 parts Sweet Cakes Sapmoss (type) Fragrance
1 part Sweet Cakes Lavender & Cedar Fragrance
Ooh la la, a day at the spa! These two blends already take a great fragrance and kick it up a notch! The "feminine" blend -- is fairly unisex, and is so delicious in shampoo that it could give the "organic experience" a run for its money! The "masculine" blend -- though you could use our Lavender Breeze or lavender essential oil, Sweet Cakes Lavender & Cedar gives the Sapmoss a cool, woody lift that is very, very masculine. Blending note: The "masculine" version may seem a little strong and too "lavender-y," but the final result in M&P soap, lotion, shampoo or shower gel is a clean, woody, uplifting scent!
