Spanning the globe to bring you exotic scrubbing agents! Mined from deep beneath the Atlas mountains in eastern Morocco (not by me, of course -- I can barely transplant a coleus from the local garden supply store), Rhassoul clay is highly sought after for its abilities to absorb oil and impurities from both skin and hair. Additionally, Rhassoul clay is higher in silica, magnesium, potassium, and calcium than all other clays. This clay is reddish-brown in color. We recommend adding it to soap for an exfoliating experience par excellence; it can also be added to shampoo and shower gel, to make them more scrub-a-licious. Here's our very own recipe for a great mask for oily or combination skin:
Kitchen Scrub Soap: Add Moroccan Rhassoul clay and a fresh, invigorating herbal scent (we recommend Lavender essential oil or Rosemary Mint fragrance oil) to your favorite M&P or cold-process soap recipe.
RECIPE: Rhassoul Clay & Yogurt Mask
Combine 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt with 1 teaspoon of Moroccan Rhassoul clay and 1-3 drops of lavender essential oil. Apply mask to clean face with your fingers. After mask has dried (10-20 minutes), rinse off with warm water. The results? Skin so soft and refreshed that you'll find yourself half-wondering which "Hot Zone" you fall in, geographically, just in case FOX-TV ever decides to do a sequel to "Are You Hot?".
Tiny seeds are a great way to turn regular soap into an exfoliating machine. Red Raspberry Seeds are a perfect match to any of our raspberry scents -- Raspberry, Sun-Ripened Raspberry (B&BW type), or Black Raspberry.
