First there was World's Best Magnolia -- and now we're pleased as punch to offer you the finest Egyptian musk this side of Khartoum!
A little backstory: A perfumer we work with recently relocated to the US from France. While still living in Paris, he purchased a small bottle of musk fragrance, which immediately became his wife's signature scent and which people within sniffing range remarked upon endlessly. Now that he's here in the US and unable to purchase more of this incredible musk, he decided to duplicate it. I will readily admit to not being a musk addict myself, but when the sample of this fragrance landed on the warehouse doorstep, I was blown away! It's simply the muskiest, sexiest, most beguiling musk blend I've ever come across (and we're talking thousands of fragrance samples over the past 9+ years)! In fact, I would put this in a league with the best of the Sweet Cakes best -- our copies of Angel and Fracas and Precious Amber, for example.
You must try World's Best Egyptian Musk! Who'll like it? Anyone who likes musky fragrances, sexy fragrances, unique fragrances, or upscale-smelling fragrances. Who won't be impressed by it? Only someone whose nostrils were stitched together in a freak serger accident. And here's one more piece of juicy backstory -- another customer of this particular perfumer has also purchased this Egyptian Musk and is selling it diluted as a perfume with a price tag of $100 per ounce. Diluted, people. Per ounce. Or, as expressed in the title of a song by West Coast rap-music impresario Ice Cube, "$100 Dollar Bill, Yo."
Note to CP soapers: I've personally tested this fragrance well and thoroughly in CP soap, and my feelings about using it in CP are mixed . . . while it doesn't mutate or cause any trouble, the scent does fade more than Sweet Cakes fragrances do. At the end of cure time, the pleasant musk and sandalwood notes were still there, but a bit muted. If you don't mind a more subtle fragrance level in your cold-process soap, then feel free to give Egyptian Musk a spin. Flashpoint: >200º F.
Sweet sugar infused with fresh lemons -- our version of this boutique best-seller!
Our interpretation of Fresh-brand's top-selling Lemon Sugar fragrance is the perfect fusion of sweet sugar and lemony citrus. Top notes of essential oil of Italian bergamot, yuzu, mandarin, and lychee flower lead to an orange blossom and ginger flower middle, with bottom notes of oakmoss, caramel, and white sandalwood. Subtle, fresh, and irresistible.

"Fresh" is one of the top-selling boutique brands -- here's our interpretation of their delicious "Sugar Blossom"!
Our version of Fresh "Sugar Blossom" is a sheer, flirtatious blend that begins with clean citrusy top notes of bergamot, grapefruit, and essential oils of lemon and lime. Floral mid-notes of white orchid, freesia, jasmine, passionfruit, and lily of the valley lead to a sweet, soft drydown of vanilla, caramel, and amber.
This vibrant, alluring blend is an inviting combination of clean white floral blossoms and sparkling citrus notes, softened and sweetened with sugary notes of caramel and vanilla.

Here's the backstory: Whilst shopping at a fancy-schmancy department store, several Hermes samples were very kindly included with my purchase. Upon returning home and going through the bag, what to my wondering nostrils did appear but the most intriguing, the most beguiling, the most likable scent that I had stumbled upon in years and years? I tore through the samples, unstoppering each to see which was responsible for the aroma that had me swooning. It was Eau des Merveilles, and I think our re-creation is every bit as good as the real thing.
Eau des Merveilles is unusual in that the perfumers who created it purposely built it upside-down, so that bottom notes would be the top notes. Thus the fragrance opens with woody notes of vetiver, oak, and cedar, which quickly lead to a sweet, sultry middle of ambergris, with lemon, orange, elemi, and pink pepper in the finish. The lack of floral notes in the blend -- while being interesting, and unusual -- also makes the scent unisex for those who have a metrosexual bent.
Why the Hermes original version of this scent isn't on every neck and wrist in the free world is beyond me -- yes, it's that good. Our re-creation isn't cheap (although it's much cheaper than the "real thing"), but it's well worth the price -- if you can even put a price on transporting yourself to a nirvana of gorgeous, mind-bending scent!

At long last -- our most-requested fragrance duplication!
The exclusive, over-the-top Hotel Costes is located in the heart of Paris, and their house perfume -- in its deep red bottle with chunky glass stopper -- became an immediate cult classic upon its introduction in 2004. We received more requests to duplicate this super-complex, super-chic fragrance than any other. It took six months of tinkering and refining, but at long last, we're delighted to offer you our interpretation of this stunning blend (and if you've never smelled the real thing, you're in for an amazing treat!).
Our blend opens with spicy green top notes of natural cypress, basil, cardamom, lemon, nutmeg, black pepper, and cinnamon oil. The top notes give way to a spicy floral middle of rose and jasmine along with essential oils of lavender and clove bud. The bottom notes of this fragrance -- which create an amazing accord that lasts and lasts -- consist of essential oils of sandalwood, cedarwood, and patchouli, sweetened with a bit of synthetic musk.
This fragrance is truly unique -- it's almost like three fragrances in one as a medley of bright, green essential oils give way to an irresistible spice blend, which then leads to a long-lived, soapy clean, woodsy drydown. Stays stunning and true in cold-process soap!

An icy blast of cool, clean scent guaranteed to make you sit up and take notice. Essential oils of eucalyptus and peppermint are combined with synthetic menthol to produce a mind-clearing, eye-opening humdinger. Cools you down in summer and heats you up in winter (I know that sounds impossible, but that's what they always say about down comforters, so I'm going with it . . .). Flashpoint: 141º F.
Here are some terrific Icecap blending ideas:
3 parts Sweet Cakes Clementine Fragrance (or Sweet Cakes Mandarin Orange Fragrance)
1 part Sweet Cakes Icecap Fragrance
This citrus blend with a cool blast is great for hot summer days. It's truly a unisex blend -- men love it. Talk about a "wake you up in the morning" shower! You may want to adjust the Icecap, depending on how "cool" you want the blend to be. I don't recommend more than 5 parts Clementine to 2 parts Icecap, though. Also, try blending Icecap with your favorite Sweet Cakes fruity fragrance to give it a cool, icy feel. Even pear fragrances get a boost with a dash of Icecap!
A recent addition to the perfumer's arsenal of irresistible white floral notes is the blossom of the kakadu plum plant, native to Western Australia.
That delightful floral note is the essence of this blend. Creamy, white, floral notes of kakadu plum blossom are complemented by herbal mid-notes of sage and lavender, plus a kiss of white jasmine. The finish consists of sexy, clean musk and deep, sweet amber.
Bottom line: A fresh, modern, well-rounded floral blend. The plum kakadu flower is the basis of Molton Brown's "Plum Kadu" best-selling haircare and bodywash products, so if you're a fan of those, you'll love our Kadu Blossom fragrance.
